Find the clue that fits only one spot (for example, "to the right of the toilet" points to a single cell). Place those characters first; the rest falls into place.
Mark with an ✗ the cells where a character CANNOT be. Eliminating options turns a hard puzzle into an easy one.
Each time you place someone, you remove their row and column for the rest. Cross that with the clues.
