Tips to Solve Deduction Puzzles

Getting stuck on logic puzzles? With these simple techniques you will solve deduction sudokus and similar games much faster.

1. Start with the strong clues

Find the clue that fits only one spot (for example, "to the right of the toilet" points to a single cell). Place those characters first; the rest falls into place.

2. Use notes mode

Mark with an ✗ the cells where a character CANNOT be. Eliminating options turns a hard puzzle into an easy one.

3. Apply the row and column rule

Each time you place someone, you remove their row and column for the rest. Cross that with the clues.

4. Do not guess

If you think you must guess, you are missing a deduction. Re-read the clues: there is always a logical solution. Practice it on PawClues.
